Rapidly growing global technology and manufacturing company that is investing heavily in the US with a new manufacturing location is looking for a well versed Controls Engineer for a new site in the Metro Detroit area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing global company! This position will provide you the benefit of zero travel and will only be working 14 days a month.

As a Controls Engineer working within the distribution center, the role will provide front-line support to the Automation Control team to ensure that control issues, including PLC code related issues within our live operational systems, are investigated and resolved as quickly as possible.   • Start up and debug of new systems - Siemens experience is preferred but not required
  • Problem solving existing systems
  • Production support
  • Factory Information Systems
  • Provide front line issues investigation of live production control systems (hardware and software) including the use of relevant diagnostic tools such as Profibus / CAN Bus networks, Bar Code Readers.
  • Carry out planned maintenance across the site.
  • Complete quality inspections
  • Where a hardware fault is identified, activate a pre-defined workaround or make temporary modifications to PLC code
  • Work with the Automation Control team to diagnose and deploy the required code fixes.

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline or advanced degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a controls technician, preferably in an automation environment.
  • Experience in a warehouse, distribution, production or manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Good technical & experienced hands-on ability relating to automation hardware and software.
  • A good understanding of PLC control system architecture and field control devices.
  • A good understanding of DC motor controls.
