2014 Hot Jobs: Office & Administration
As businesses bounce back in a strengthening economy, office and administrative workers are becoming a key hire across all industries. Often seen as the “backbone” of companies, today’s office and administrative workers are going far beyond traditional receptionist duties. In fact, according to a survey from the International Association of Administrative Professionals,
68 percent of office and administrative professionals have seen their authority and autonomy increase at work since 2008, and 81 percent indicated they are making a greater impact for their employer compared to five years ago.
What's Hot: Admins With Accounting Experience
"In today’s office and administrative environment, gone are the days where workers would handle strictly inbound calls. There has been a higher demand for administrative professionals with accounting experience, specifically with accounts payable and accounts receivable experience,” said Phyllis Finley, Executive Vice President at Randstad US. “There has also been an emergence of 'Front Desk Admin' orders for smaller companies. These employees are responsible for a huge array of duties, including reception, light bookkeeping and even some customer service. Clients are looking for candidates who are multi-faceted and can handle a variety of tasks.”
