responsibilities:
- Assist with managing the end-to-end preparation and filing of complex consolidated federal and multi-state corporate income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely submission across all jurisdictions.
- Drive the quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision calculations. This includes preparing detailed deferred tax analyses, maintaining the effective tax rate (ETR) schedule, calculating tax true-ups, documenting uncertain tax positions (UTPs), and ensuring all tax accounts are properly reconciled for financial reporting purposes.
- Oversee and maintain comprehensive tax fixed asset records within our specialized software. This involves managing depreciation schedules, running complex projections for future capital expenditures, assisting with R&D tax credit documentation, and supporting strategic tax planning initiatives related to asset lifecycle.
- Ensure timely compliance and reporting for all real property tax obligations across various company locations, including managing assessment reviews and processing payments accurately.
- Assist the corporate tax team in managing federal, state, and local tax audits by gathering extensive documentation, preparing clear and concise workpapers, and communicating effectively with auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Perform in-depth tax research using authoritative sources such as the IRC, Treasury Regulations, and state tax codes. Document research findings in clear memos and stay current on evolving tax laws and regulatory changes to assess their impact on the company's tax position.
- Work seamlessly with the broader accounting and finance teams, engaging in process improvements, general ledger reconciliations, and various cross-departmental tax projects.
- Manage and resolve all tax notices and inquiries received from various federal and state taxing authorities in a professional and timely manner.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA designation is highly preferred.
- 3-5 years of dedicated tax preparation experience, preferably gained within a corporate tax department or a public accounting firm.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas).
- Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
