Join our diagnostic testing laboratory in Lenexa, KS as a Forensic Lab Supervisor and become a key leader in maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy for our critical diagnostic services. You will serve as the technical and operational backbone for our Quality Control team across multiple shifts, ensuring seamless workflow, technical excellence, and regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your deep forensic laboratory experience to mentor personnel, drive continuous improvement, and ensure that every test result meets the stringent requirements of a SAMHSA-certified facility. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct technical oversight and day-to-day supervision of non-exempt laboratory personnel across multiple shifts, managing workflow, work assignments, and scheduling of non-routine procedures.
- Drive Quality Assurance: Initiate and monitor comprehensive quality-control measures to ensure all work adheres to rigorous laboratory, Federal, CAP, and State standards.
- Staff Development & Management: Execute all personnel-related functions, including hiring, hands-on training, continuing education, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the planning and implementation of new analytical methods, instrumentation, and corrective actions, and manage all necessary updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Regulatory Readiness: Prepare departmental staff and documentation for all internal and external inspections, specifically for Federal, CAP, and State regulatory bodies.
- Technical Proficiency: Maintain proficiency in all principal duties of a Forensic Scientist, stepping in to perform analytical duties as necessitated by staff absence or during peak workload periods.
- Manage the department's annual competency testing process, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Act as a professional inter-departmental liaison, participating in leadership meetings and ensuring effective communication across all shifts.

Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Medical Technology, Biological Science, or a related field. (If the degree is in a non-related field, a minimum of 16 semester hours in Chemistry, 16 semester hours in Biology, and 3 semester hours of Mathematics is required.)
- Experience:
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience for an MT (Medical Technologist) or 7 years for a BS/BA degree holder.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a SAMHSA-certified laboratory.
- Technical & Leadership Skills:
- Proven ability to establish work priorities for self and others and manage multiple complex procedures simultaneously, including instrument and technical troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to schedule and manage laboratory resources effectively to meet departmental goals.
- Exceptional communication skills for effective professional interaction with co-workers, management, and clients, always ensuring high-quality customer service.
- Physical/Other Requirements:
- Ability to protect and maintain patient and client confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to perform routine and repetitive motions (e.g., pipetting) and to stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Experience leading a team in a high-throughput diagnostic or toxicology laboratory.
- Advanced technical expertise in the instrumentation and methodologies used in forensic toxicology/diagnostic testing.
- Prior experience preparing a team directly for a major regulatory inspection (e.g., CAP, SAMHSA).
