responsibilities:
- Actively supports and promotes safe work practices throughout the mill by being present at safety activities and personally encouraging safe behaviors. Coordinates a monthly safety meeting and performs safety audits.
- Enforces policies regarding health and safety as well as the environment and ensures that issues are dealt with as efficiently as possible so the work environment is safe for employees.
- Works closely with sales employees and customer service to ensure quality products are available to customers.
- Researches quality issues and decides on the disposition of this inventory.
- Supports tech services with quality issues and dealing with the customer.
- Ensures department compliance with ISO standards and leads ISO re-certification efforts.
- Provides leadership and guidance to salaried and hourly employees while promoting employee involvement and participation in problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Ensures that both salaried and hourly employees have adequate training to support activities of the department and fulfil future manpower requirements.
- Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, rules, regulations and the collective agreement and implements appropriate measures as required.
- Ensures that direct reports are informed of Company activities, results, priorities and operating philosophy so activities and behaviors of members of departments are aligned with the values supported by the organization.
- Attends and supports the daily mill production and participates in other meetings as necessary.
- Is responsible for weekend coverage on a rotation basis.
- Leads re-certification activities.
- Shall have an awareness of the Food Safety Policy, GMP's, HACCP Principles and Food Safety Standard.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
