Large utility is looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician in Grayling, MI. This role requires a minimum of 4+ years of power plant experience to maintain, calibrate, and repair complex instrumentation (PLCs, control systems) and high-voltage electrical equipment (motors, switchgear) using advanced electrical diagram reading and hands-on technical skills, while also ensuring safety and supporting 24/7 operations. responsibilities:
- Installs, operates, and maintains plant instrumentation and process control equipment.
- Manages distributed discrete and analog computer systems, controllers, and actuators.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems, including motors, switch gear, and wiring.
- Performs calibrations and repairs on emission monitoring equipment and controllers.
- Maintains and programs plant Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Ensures a safe work environment via planning, housekeeping, and following safety rules.
- Assists operations during plant upsets or trips.
- Reads and interprets technical plans, diagrams, and specifications.
- Conducts preventative and routine maintenance on electric motors and switchgear, including live, high-voltage work.
- Performs routine vibration monitoring of rotating equipment.
- Must be able to use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work.
- Excellent communication skills are required for team direction and feedback.
- Requires a High School Diploma/GED, with an Associate's Degree or Master Electrical License preferred.
- Requires 4+ years' experience in power plant operations or control room experience.
