An Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Corning, NY area. This Senior Engineer role requires experience to lead the installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of complex thin film, plasma, and vacuum deposition equipment, focusing on process optimization, advanced troubleshooting, PLC systems, and technical/safety leadership in industrial and cleanroom environments.

responsibilities:
- Leads the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of thin film, plasma, and vacuum deposition equipment.
- Requires advanced engineering expertise and strong project leadership.
- Leads the design, installation, and optimization of vacuum deposition equipment and related systems (electrical, cooling water, gas, exhaust).
- Develops and implements process improvements for thin film deposition, focusing on efficiency and quality.
- Performs advanced operational testing, diagnostics, and root cause analysis for complex equipment and process issues.
- Mentors and guides junior engineers and technicians; provides technical leadership on equipment/controls upgrades (including PLCs).
- Authors and reviews technical documentation, reports, and work instructions, ensures best practices are adopted.
- Ensures strict compliance with safety protocols and procedures, champions safety initiatives.
- Leads cross-functional project teams, manages project timelines, and contributes to strategic problem-solving.
- Requires demonstrated expertise in mechanical/electrical systems, fluid handling, and vacuum/gas facilitation.
- Must have extensive experience with industrial equipment, including PLCs, automation, and CAD software.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of plasma processes and electrical wiring.
- Must have proven analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Requires a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively, with experience leading teams and projects.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field),
- A Master's degree is preferred.
- Requires 5+ years of lab/industrial work experience, including cleanroom environments.
