A Controls Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Alpharetta, GA area. This role designs, programs, tests, and commissions PLC-based generator paralleling switchgear with 8-10 years of experience, ensuring compliance with electrical and safety standards.

responsibilities:
- Controls Engineer position in the Electric Power Division (EPD).
- Focuses on designing, developing, installing, and maintaining control equipment for engineering systems.
- Responsible for custom switchgear and generator control systems design, test, and commissioning.
- Executing electrical design schedules, analyzing project requirements, and performing technical calculations.
- creating PLC programs, directing CAD designers, creating Bills of Materials (BOM), and interacting with customers.
- Must ensure adherence to safety objectives and legal requirements (e.g., NEC, UL standards).
- Works with a team of 5-8 engineers and reports to an Engineering Manager.
- PLC Programming,
- Generator Paralleling, and
- Switchgear Design.
- Requires expert knowledge in at least one PLC platform (Schneider, AB, Woodward).
- Communication (verbal/written), problem solving, independent work/time management, and leadership/mentoring.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering required.
- 8-10 years of experience required.
