A Supplier Quality Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Lafayette, IN area. This role acts as the critical link between production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality nonconformances and will investigate defects, manage containment activities like sorting or rework, and coordinate technical dispositions to prevent production downtime in a high-demand engine manufacturing environment.

responsibilities:
- Investigate supplier and operational quality issues to provide well-defined problem statements to cross-functional teams.
- Assess the impact of quality defects and coordinate with teams to establish a path forward for disposition.
- Mitigate production line downtime risks through timely resolution of quality roadblocks.
- Manage and coordinate the disposition of nonconformances via Process Change Notifications (PCNs) or Deviations.
- Perform root cause analysis using fact-based data to support problem-solving initiatives.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and manage process change requests.
- Review rejected components from both incoming inspection and the production floor.
- Execute containment activities, including sorting and rework, to minimize operational impact.
- Support continuous improvement projects and problem-solving workshops.
- Interface daily with production, engineering, supplier development, and logistics teams.
- Utilize blueprints, gages, and measurements to verify part compliance.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
