job summary: Industry leading manufacturing company is looking for an Employee Relations Manager in the Montgomery, Al area. This role comes with a very competitive compensation plan commensurate with experience with a base salary ranging from $100k to $110k plus an annual bonus opportunity. General oversight of the Team Relations Department, including setting strategy, developing and monitoring budgets, staffing, and performing/overseeing personnel evaluations. ? Manages and oversees, and directs the Team Relations Department of Human Resources, which includes Team Relations, and Business Planning. TEAM RELATIONS SECTION ? Manages, oversees, and directs all labor and employee relations matters and activities. ? Provides prompt advice to management on the full range of labor and employee relations matters. ? Develop, implement, and maintain a union avoidance strategy to be used by the management team to detect, prevent, and respond to union organizing activity. ? Oversee, guide, review, and approve all internal investigations, including those related to performance, workplace violence, discrimination and harassment, attendance, corrective actions, and or terminations. ? Chair and facilitate both the Workplace Violence and Termination Committees. ? Keep abreast of all union activity and labor-related regulations and laws. ? Provide guidance and ideas to executive management on union avoidance initiatives. ? Maintain relationships with other automotive suppliers and share relevant information regarding the automotive industry, labor relations, and union activity. ? Provide relevant labor relations training for suppliers as needed. ? Conduct and lead benchmarking on issues related to team relations. ? Provide guidance on Human Resources issues and programs including, but not limited to, staffing, employee relations, benefits, policies, training, and performance management. TRAINING ? Create and facilitate regular labor relations training for all members of management. ? Create and facilitate regular training on compliance with company policies and procedures, including sexual harassment and workplace violence. ? Participate in New Hire Orientation. ? Create and facilitate all Team Leader Leadership Training for all production Team Leaders. ? Create and facilitate Leadership Training courses for all Supervisors, Assistant Managers, and Managers COMMUNICATIONS ? Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence and prepare and deliver presentations to senior leadership as needed. ? Coordinate and participate in Presidents Roundtable with production Team Members. ? Responsible for coaching and counseling all levels of management on conflict resolution and interpretation of company policies and procedures. ? Oversee Team Member Opinion Survey, analysis of the data, creation of action plans, and follow- ups, as needed. ? Creation of new communication ideas and systems. ? Responsible for all hourly training sessions with regards to company policies and procedures. ? Provide guidance on Human Resources issues and programs including, but not limited to, staffing, employee relations, benefits, policies, training, and performance management. BUSINESS PLANNING ? Prepare a yearly departmental budget. ? Oversee and implement corporate programs and directives as requested. ? Oversee and manage program development and implementation. ? Work with the management team to develop strategies designed to minimize turnover. ? Assist with partnering Human Resources efforts and Team Member's needs with the performance goals of the organization. ? Maintains daily communication with direct reports to provide guidance and support. ? Recommends changes to current policies and procedures. ? Demonstrate ability to assess organizational and people issues. ? Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. ? Demonstrate ability to assess organizational and people issues. PUBLIC RELATIONS ? Oversees, manages and directs all community and public relations matters, communications and activities. ? Represent company as speaker for all public relations functions and activities, including media relations, press relations, Team Member communications, and crisis communications. ? Represent company in, with, or before business, community, and governmental activities, groups, and functions. ? This includes Media Relations, Press Relations, Team Member communications, and crisis communication. OTHER ? Responsible for managing the overtime hours of their staff. ? Comply with and promote safety in the workplace, to include attendance at safety meetings as well as conduct safety meetings when necessary. Education & Experience: ? BS Degree in Human Resources, Business or related. ? Experience in labor and employment matters. ? 8+ yrs HR experience. ? 5 years Union Avoidance experience in a non-union environment ? Manufacturing experience, preferably automotive. ? PC systems literate with PowerPoint, Excel and Word a must and ERP (SAP) experience a plus. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: ? Must possess broad-based working knowledge of labor and employment law, corporate law, insurance law, and OSHA. ? Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally and to explain complex legal issues to all levels of management. ? Detail-oriented and customer-focused. ? Willing to collaborate, share knowledge, respond quickly to urgent matters, and execute proactively. ? Ability to understand and embrace the company's core values, corporate goals, mission, and priorities. ? Knowledge of federal and state labor laws. ?
