responsibilities:
- Work in medical R&D environment to assist in electro-mechanical device build, test, debug, data gathering for system & sub-systems
- High Voltage experience STRONGLY preferred - meticulous attention to safety procedures
- Set up and conduct tests of components, sub-assemblies, and complete units under operational conditions to investigate issues or to obtain data for development, regulatory need, or quality control
- Capable of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet entry, formatting, and basic math
- Cabling experience: Capable of wiring cables and harnesses, using crimping tools for connector terminations, harness routing/dressing systems
- Ability to debug electronic circuits to the device level
- Ability to read electronic circuit schematics and familiar with PCB layout files
- Very good PCB circuit repair / rework - soldering skills, basic component replacement & rework of small surface mount components a MUST
- AC Line Power Experience preferred: Understanding & debug of AC line power and devices (transformers, line filters, circuit breakers)
- Ensures work conforms to processes which support Hologic quality standards established for all methods and products
- Electro-mechanical assembly: Devises, fabricates and assembles new or modified components or assemblies for medical product prototypes
- Analyzes and calculates test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and assists in design modifications to meet specifications
- Assist engineers in root cause investigations on complex system/sub-assembly issues using advanced technical equipment - oscilloscopes and DVMs
- Designs and builds test fixtures for sub-assemblies and complete units
- Customizes unit and makes modifications according to written or verbal instructions
- Test, record data, and write reports based on verbal or written test procedures
