A specialized global manufacturer is looking for a Quality Engineer to join their team near East Rockaway, New York. This company has been around since the early 60's and has continuously grown year over year. This person will oversee the activity of the quality assurance department and maintain, manage, and continuously improve a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization's products and/or development processes.
The salary is commensurate with experience up to $115K but open to negotiation. Great health/retirement benefits are also provided.

An educational background in Physics or Materials Science is highly preferred.

responsibilities:
- Ensure that the organization's Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, ISO 9001, and regulatory/legal requirements.
- Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, vendor quality systems.
- Oversee inspection (examination) of incoming materials, ensuring that they meet requirements.
- Manage the monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes, especially those that affect the quality of the organization's products.
- Work with customers, employees, contractors, and outsourcing firms to develop product requirements.
- Report to top management on the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement.
- Conduct periodic management review meetings.
- Oversee product recalls.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action
- Responsible for accuracy and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring devices.
- Keep up on standards, regulations/laws, issues, and news with respect to product quality
