A Substation Engineer is needed for a leading engineering firm in the Denver, CO area. The Substation Engineer will act on the owner's behalf in support of multiple utility substation projects, ranging from minor equipment upgrades to new green field substation EPC projects. Tasks include reviewing & checking a full range of construction documents for the installation of new, or modifications of existing, high voltage substations, verifying physical layout design on various high-voltage substation projects, as well as providing engineering and construction support for projects.
Qualified candidates must have a BSEE and 3+ years of electrical substation engineering experience related to electric utility substation EPC projects. Our client will also consider candidates who are focused more on the protection & controls side. Our client prefers candidates that are within a commutable distance, but will consider ALL candidates who are interested in Denver and require a per diem. This assignment is slated to last at least a year.

-Act in an Owner's engineering capacity in support of multiple utility substation projects, ranging from minor equipment upgrades to new green field substation EPC projects
-Support the Owner's Engineering & Project Management team to ensure all electrical substation designs meet customer and industry standards
-Review substation physical layout designs and/or protection, control & communications design as part of a team to support Utility substation construction projects
-Be involved in reviewing the electrical substation physical layout engineering & designs for utility substation projects
-At times, review substation equipment specifications for protection, control, and communications equipment in the substation
-Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
-Interfaces with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers
-Ensure that engineering & construction is performed in accordance with the specification and drawing requirements
