job summary: This person will perform complex accounting work by utilizing financial accounting system called Tyler/Munis, to assist the accounting department in the annual closeout process and perform other senior accountant duties daily. This person will assume a leadership role and is expected to exercise independent judgement in dealing with technical and procedural issues that arise throughout the course of the day and during the year-end close. Also, this person will be expected to review financial data and apply the application of accounting principles and practices in all recording, reporting and the compiling of statements for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.   location: Wilmington, Delaware job type: Permanent salary: $70,000 - 80,000 per year work hours: 8:30 to 4:30 education: Bachelor's degree experience: 5 Years   responsibilities: Critical thinking skills, natural problem-solving skills, and the ability to spot an issue and bring it to resolution.Organized, detail oriented, known for accuracy and high-quality work and with the ability to pivot or reprioritize.Ability to analyze, summarize and articulate financial information in a clear and concise manner.Work with accounting staff, but closely with the accounting manager and the external auditors during the year-end close.Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and have the knowledge to be able to perform the correction.Ability to review the work or reports prepared by staff or lower-level accountants to assist in the accuracy of the information provided regarding the financial position.Perform quarterly financial close reports on the balance sheet and statement of revenues, expenditures, and changes in fund balances to identify any outstanding issues that may need to be addressed prior to the year-end close.Reconcile and review accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.Perform year-end adjustments that would need to be made to the balance sheet and the statement of net position to ensure an accurate representation of the the Annual Financial Report.  qualifications: Must have thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and pronouncements of both the Government and Financial Accounting Standards Boards (GASB/FASB). Must be able to work under daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines. Must be able to take data and format it into a spreadsheet, ensure that all appropriate items are included, and that the data is reflected accurately. Must be able to prepare reports, perform analysis and research, and make presentations to management as required. Must have excellent PC, Excel, and Word skills.
