We're looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Clerk to play a crucial role in our clients revenue cycle department. In this position, you will be responsible for the accurate preparation, timely submission, and diligent follow-up of all workers' compensation claims. You will be the point person ensuring strict compliance with state regulations and payer guidelines, while actively resolving billing issues and maintaining professional relationships with adjusters, case managers, and patients. Position will be located in the East End of Louisville. It is a temporary to hire role. Pay will be between $20-$22/hour.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Process Claims: Accurately prepare and submit workers’ compensation billing claims 
  
  
• Ensure Accuracy: Verify that all claims are accurate, including correct coding (CPT/HCPCS), pricing, authorizations, and necessary supporting documentation prior to submission.
  
  
• Manage Collections: Proactively track and monitor claim status to ensure prompt reimbursement. Dedicate time to following up on any denials, rejections, or outstanding balances.
  
  
• Communicate & Resolve: Effectively communicate with adjusters, case managers, and internal teams to quickly resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
  
  
• Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain meticulous records of all billing activities, claim submissions, and payment postings. Uphold strict compliance with HIPAA and state workers’ compensation regulations.
  
  
• Support Operations: Assist with prior authorization requests, collection of medical documentation, and preparing claim appeals as needed.
  
  
• Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer support to patients, payers, and referral sources regarding billing inquiries.
  
  
• Financial Support: Contribute to month-end reporting, reconciliation, and audit preparation as required.
