Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints: Understand technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to determine the machining operations required.
- Set up and operate machinery: Prepare and run manual machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drills.
- Fabricate and repair parts: Cut, shape, and grind materials to precise dimensions and tolerances to create new parts or repair existing ones.
- Measure and inspect: Use precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers to verify that finished components meet quality and dimensional requirements.
- Maintain equipment: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machine tools to ensure they are in good working order.
- Troubleshoot issues: Identify and solve problems that arise during the machining process or with the equipment itself.
- Monitor production: Watch the machining process, making adjustments as needed to maintain tolerances and quality.
