Responsibilities
- Complete Machine Setup: Perform full setups on CNC Lathes (2-axis or multi-axis), including installing collets, chucks, and specialized work-holding.
- Tooling & Offsets: Select, sharpen, and preset tools. Load tools into the turret and establish tool offsets and work coordinates.
- Program Verification: Read and interpret G-code/M-code. Perform dry runs and "first-article" inspections to ensure the program is running safely and accurately.
- Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.) to verify part dimensions against blueprints.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and correct machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, or dimensional drift.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in CNC Lathe setup (turning).
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.
- Math Skills: Firm understanding of shop math, including geometry and trigonometry for calculating offsets.
- Independence: You can look at a setup sheet and get the machine running with minimal supervision.
- Tools: Ownership of basic machinist hand tools and measuring equipment is a plus.
