Responsibilities
- Blueprint Reading: Interpreting technical drawings, CAD models, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
- Machine Setup: Aligning workholding (vices/fixtures) and loading specific cutting tools into the machine spindle or turret.
- Setting Offsets: Calculating and entering tool length and work-piece coordinates to establish "zero" points.
- Program Management: Loading, proofing, and performing basic edits to G-code and M-code programs.
- Machine Operation: Monitoring the cutting process, adjusting spindle speeds and feed rates to optimize performance.
- Quality Inspection: Using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify that finished parts meet strict tolerances.
- Process Adjustment: Adjusting tool wear offsets to maintain accuracy as cutting edges degrade over time.
- Tool Maintenance: Replacing worn inserts, sharpening drills, and managing tool life cycles.
- Preventative Maintenance: Cleaning machines, managing coolant concentrations, and lubricating moving components.
- Safety & Organization: Maintaining a clean workspace (5S) and following all OSHA and PPE safety protocols.
