Linux System Administrator
Summary:
We have an opening for a Linux System Administrator in our Dublin, OH office. We prefer contract-to-hire, but this position may be direct hire or 3-month contract-to-hire. At present this role may work an in-office or remote hybrid schedule. Local candidates only (1 hour commute or less) for some on-premises work. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Who you are:
You enjoy building complex systems and troubleshooting them when things go wrong. You chase the symptoms until you find the root cause. You know where system and application log files usually live. You're not intimidated or irritated by a new problem because you trust your troubleshooting skills. You don't give up easily.
You have good personal communication skills, including explaining complex problems to people who are not familiar with that specific technology.
You have 2+ years of experience with system administration, including most of the following:
- Linux (we mostly use RHEL)
- DBMS (we mostly use MySQL)
- Networking infrastructure (switches, firewalls, etc)
- VMware vSphere
- SAN/NAS storage
- Bonus:
- RedHat Satellite/Tower
- Ansible
- Jenkins
- Git / Gitea
- Jira
- Azure/Active Directory
- Docker
You will join a small team that is responsible for deploying, maintaining, and upgrading internal systems (servers, networking, storage, etc) as well as Linux and MySQL servers for our customers. We're moving into a new building later this year, so there is some new build-out and upgrade work too, not just maintaining current systems.
The current team includes other system administrator and helpdesk staff, so you're not on your own, but we are a small company so helpdesk work may take 20% or so of your time. Hopefully less.
You may travel to customer sites occasionally, but mostly you'll work from Ohio. There is occasional weekend/evening work when production systems need maintenance.
