We have a contract to hire opportunity for a Technical Writer in Roseville, CA. This role is 100% onsite.
TECHNICAL WRITER JOB DESCRIPTION:
Summary/Objective:
Under general supervision, conducts, coordinates, and implements the preparation of a wide variety of customer-facing product support literature.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, organizes, prepares, writes, and implements science lab activities and product support literature.
- Confers with engineers, product marketing managers and technical support personnel to identify and establish required technical specifications for determination of appropriate documentation materials.
- Utilizes product drawings, specifications, mockups and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure and detail targeted to the K-14 science education audience worldwide.
- Develops source material and coordinates the preparation of required illustrative materials. Integrates drawings, sketches, and graphics as necessary into standard manual templates.
- Plans format and arranges layout for a variety of customer-facing documents; edits work for conformance to publication standards and specifications.
- Authors documents for ease in language translation and localization.
- Updates existing literature as needed.
- Collaborates with technical and clerical staff, as needed, to complete projects.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or related experience with High School Diploma
- One year of technical writing and editing experience.
- Familiarity with MS Office (esp. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Visio) and Google G Suite
- XML authoring tools (e.g. Oxygen XML Editor, MadCap Flare, Adobe Framemaker)
- Formatting and styling PDF output using CSS
- Creating illustrations using Solidworks Composer and editing SVG files
- Version control using Git
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

This position does require the ability to perform under stressful conditions and high-volume demands.
