SAP Database Administrator
Summary:
- The position of SAP Database Administrator (DBA) will be part of a team whose objective and responsibility will be to support IBM DB2 LUW and SAP HANA databases and maintain the systems at optimal performance, availability and efficiency.
- The DBA will be responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, maintenance and production monitoring of database instances and associated software tools. The individual will also provide assistance and consultation to other infrastructure staff and work within cross-functional teams.
- Capacity planning of database.
- Planning, installation, and maintenance of DB2 and HANA DBMS software
- Implementation of DB2 and HANA databases at an enterprise level
- Provide expertise related to DB performance, HA/DR, and scalability
- Database security administration
- Database monitoring with both ad-hoc tools and automated scripts or procedures
- Support/recommend reporting, query and analysis tools ensuring efficient database utilization
- Diagnosis of problems and resolution for database
- Database performance monitoring and tuning
- Working closely with application team members and business users
- Interface with developers and modelers for performance and data access requirements
- Development of standards and procedures for the SAP database environment
- Consultation with infrastructure teams on database requirements and configuration best practice
- Perform regularly scheduled database maintenance
- Stay current with new database technology developments and techniques, research new software and tools, proactively recommend improvements
- Evaluation and utilization of software products to assist in the management of database
- We need an excellent communicator with problem resolution skills who thrives on working in a team environment. In addition, we require:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Excellent interpersonal, written and team collaboration skills
- 10+ years of database administration experience, preferably with DB2 LUW and/or SAP HANA
- Experience supporting the SAP applications
- Experience working with infrastructure teams on DB2 and HANA database requirements and configuration best practice
- Experience with SAP DB2/HANA installation, upgrade and HANA system migration
- Experience working with SAP Data Warehousing and DB2 DPF environment
- Experience with Database HA/DR technologies
- Experience with database backup and recovery solutions
- Experience with database configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning
- analytical, problem solving, organizational, and planning skills
- Good working knowledge of AIX and Linux
- Good Experience in Shell/PHP/Perl scripting is highly desirable
- RDBMS: SAP HANA and DB2; SAP HANA & Db2 DBA support, including DB installation and upgrade, DB maintenance, monitoring, performance tuning, DB backup and recovery
- SAP Basis Admin: SAP Installations, Configurations, Parameter Updates, and Upgrades
- 10+ years of database administration experience, preferably with DB2 LUW and/or SAP HANA
