As our Ultra Long Haul (ULH) Route Planner, you will be responsible for defining, engineering, and resolving network capacity requirements for Verizon's ultra-long haul transport network. You will utilize high capacity next generation light wave and wave division multiplexing technologies to meet network services capacity, vulnerability, diversity and growth requirements. - Performing equipment engineering, developing specifications for installation, turn-up, inventory, and configuration of equipment. - Issuing purchase orders, creating diagrams/drawings, and ensuring vendor delivery. - Providing diversity analysis for internal groups in support of future customer orders, mesh network growth, and converged core data networks. - Monitoring and optimizing ULH network segments. Performing wavelength rearrangements as needed to reduce stranded network capacity. Researching and deactivating unused network systems. - Researching and identifying ULH segments in need of overbuild due to future expiration of fiber/cable/conduit/property leases, network growth, requests for network diversity, and decommissioning of legacy DWDM platforms. - Providing strategic support for Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) expansion. - Coordinating with COE and leased vendors for space/power, leased cable segments. - Coordinating with contracts to acquire leased cables/conduit.
