As a part of our SysOps team, you will be responsible for monitoring, reporting on, and forecasting the cost of running our cloud infrastructure and service platforms. This organization makes efficiency a main tenet of all operational aspects, while providing the performance and quality that our users demand. Working closely with other teams, you will dive into usage patterns and forecasts to align our budgeted expectations with reality. Based on this intelligence gathering process, you will be a key component of revenue decisions and future-facing engineering strategy. You will also manage our use of discount vehicles to optimize our cloud infrastructure costs and help to drive efficiency.
What you will do
- Investigate and understand the basis for every line item on our cloud infrastructure invoices
- Optimize performance to spend where you need to, and redistribute resources
- Suggest areas for improving spend by finding better rates or improved technology
- Find anomalies in usage patterns and give quick feedback in order to course correct
- Predict, plan, and manage resource utilization to estimate future needs, and to negotiate committed-spend discounts
- Create business intelligence reporting to inform the broader organization and empower other teams to facilitate cost optimization and minimize waste
- Assist in architectural designs and decisions
- Use real-time data to predict and optimize costs
- Develop regular forecasts and budgets and perform budget variance analysis
