Our client, a major retail firm, is hiring a DB2 Administrator. As a member of the Data Administration department, this position supports the development efforts related to all DB2 Mainframe Applications and application-oriented activities from logical design through production implementation, including all facets of the production change process. This position also participates in the joint application design sessions and is responsible for logical and physical data modeling design processes using PC based data modeling software.
Requirements
- 5+ years programming in Cobol, CICS, and Java environments.
- Extensive knowledge of DB2, QMF, and SQL skills; including performance & tuning skills.
- Must have solid analytical skills
- Working knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.

responsibilities:
- Responsible for the documentation and interpretation of application logical data models, and their mapping into physical data models.
- Supports the data management objectives of the organization.
- Collaborate with other database designers to insure the integration of databases into the physical data environment.
- Responsible for the development of implementation plans for DBMS based projects.
- Promote and identify opportunities for the sharing of corporate data.
- Participates in the support of production database restart/recovery processing.
- Responsible for system reviews and application walk-throughs.
- Responsible for forecasting DASD requirements for the data base environment.
