My client is a leader in the infrastructure consulting and advisory services space focused on energy, telecom, government and more.

This role is based in the Raleigh-Durham area of NC with relo assist if needed. Relo would not need to occur until Covid subsides.

responsibilities:
KPIs:

  • develop non-destructive testing methods for assessment of heavy civil infrastructure systems
  • utilize wave propagation principals, finite element analysis, and data interpretation
  • lead in the design of experiments, collecting data in the field and laboratory, analyzing that data, and reporting the results to management
 
qualifications:
Requirements and other stuff:

  • PHD Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline is REQUIRED
  • very senior researcher - primarily industry experience (vs Univ)
  • 15+ years total experience min
  • Ten plus years' experience in nondestructive evaluation of steel and concrete structures, signal processing algorithms and data analysis
  • Experience in performing scaled laboratory, and full-scale field tests of concrete and steel structures
  • Skilled in analyzing experimental results, understanding modes of failure, and deriving decision rules that govern the outcome
  • Experience in driving research ideas into commercial applications
  • Ability to organize and efficiently analyze large sets of data from ultrasonic, electromagnetic, mechanical, and seismic signals
  • Working knowledge of programming software such as C++, Python, Matlab or similar
  • Assist in code development for custom software packages with an understanding of low signal to noise ratio signal processing for efficient data collection and analysis
  • Provide technical support and maintenance for integrated hardware/software packages to include electronics troubleshooting and repair
  • Work with the team to manage project task identification and milestone schedule
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees, and outside contractors both verbally and in writing
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Software, ANSYS, and ABAQUS is a plus

  • $130K-$140K+ salary w/potential 20% bonus
