job summary:
Senior medical writers have advanced degrees in the life sciences and a deep, abiding interest in the accurate, effective communication of scientific ideas. They are able to transform data into memorable and actionable presentations and publications. The senior medical writer is also committed to the craft and discipline of professional medical writing and to disseminating scientific communications to the appropriate audience using the appropriate medium. Medical writers focus on providing science-based education and empowering patients by providing scientific communications and programs that encompass a mix of media (print, digital, and web) for healthcare providers and patients, as well as caregivers.

  • Write scientific communications based on data and analysis of the therapeutic landscape
  • Participate in creation of publication plans for specific therapies
  • Work closely with top opinion leaders in their respective fields as authors to produce scientific content for peer-reviewed medical journals, abstracts, posters, and slide presentations
  • Produce scientific product monographs, slide kits, conference reports, and patient education materials
  • Some project management
  • Participate in new business initiatives as needed and assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
  • MS, PharmD, MD, or PhD in life sciences or other significant experience along with a BA/BS
  • Prior medical writing experience in a medical communications agency is preferred
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills
  • Knowledge of GPP3 and ICMJE as well as other best practices relative to medical writers
  • Ability to convey clinical data in a clear, concise manner
  • Commitment to scientific accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based, deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to consistently deliver work on time
  • Thorough knowledge of word processing and reference management software
  • Expectation to obtain AMWA certification within 18-months of employment
  • Recommend obtaining CMPP certification from ISMPP
