responsibilities:
The company is seeking a self-motivated and adaptable Senior Research Associate with experience in performing in vitro and in vivo analyses to assist in developing the preclinical data package to support advancement of the company's mRNA technology platform and pipeline. The successful candidate is a hands-on cellular and molecular pharmacologist who will make significant contributions to the design and execution of preclinical in vitro and in vivo studies in the area of rare diseases. He/she will support the preclinical in vitro and in vivo pharmacology effort to evaluate and validate the potential of novel mRNA therapeutics for the rare disease therapeutic area and platform technology development. The ability to effectively communicate and work with internal team members and external partners is required.

  • Develop all necessary in vitro/ex vivo assays to measure RNA levels, expressed protein levels, enzymatic activities and in-depth functionality of new therapeutics mRNAs
  • Work closely with scientists to source, design and execute in vivo preclinical studies using rodent models of rare diseases
  • Execute and troubleshoot standard protocols, adapt new protocols into practice with little assistance, and query literature to incorporate additional assays as needed
  • Execute experiments independently
  • Deliver rigorous results in aggressive timelines
  • Analyze, interpret and present data to internal parties
  • Closely collaborate with other members within the research group and broadly with departments throughout the company
 
qualifications:
  • BS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or related field with 4+ years of experience or MS with 2+ year of experience, preferably in a biotech setting with experience in drug discovery or translational research
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro and ex vivo assays
  • Hands-on experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques
  • Hands-on experience with radioactive assays
  • Hands-on experience with enzymatic assays preferred
  • Familiarity with disease biomarkers assessment preferred
  • Knowledge in rare disease rodent models preferred
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task, help design experiments, interpret and present data, handle stress and adapt to changes
  • Team player with a can-do attitude, effective problem-solving skills, applied learning, scientific rigor, strong work ethic, and excellent data management and communication skills
  • Curious in exploring new path for drug discovery, bold in proposing creative experimental designs and ideas, collaborative with multifunctional teams and relentless in pursuing successful outcomes
