Our client, based in California, has engaged Randstad to search for a brand new role as a Sr Manager, Fermentation Engineering. They are disrupting the food market with production of animal-free proteins and seeking a leader to support the mission.

As a Senior Manager Fermentation, you will be working on development and optimization of fermentation and associated downstream purification of recombinant proteins. You will primarily be managing a team of 6-8 highly talented scientists and engineers running laboratory scale fermenters (2-50 Liters scale), filtration units or ion exchange and perform data analysis including material & carbon balance to evaluate and optimize key process parameters of relevant unit operations on a lab scale. This is a hands on role to provide mentorship and operational excellence to support the team.
- M.S. in chemical engineering, microbiology or a related field with 5-7 plus years of industrial or pilot plant/semi-works experience with at-least 2-3 years of experience in supervising direct reports in a pilot plant setting, OR B.S. with 8-10 years of experience in fermentation optimization with at-least 3-4 years of experience in managing and training entry level scientists and engineers.
