Permanent position: Engineering client that supports the steam & power generation industry is looking for a Sales Engineer/Business Development Specialist to join their team and help them continue to grow. You need 10-20+ years of experience in the steam & power generation industry either working for an OEM, Services Company, Engineering or Construction company. Responsibilities for the Business Development Manager

  • Perform business development and marketing support activities in the Utility and Industrial Steam & Power Generation Industry to identify projects pertaining to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction services
  • Insure quality client contacts, client needs assessments, proposal development support/guidance, and sales closures
  • Support the development of strategic action plans for key accounts and key industries (both new and existing) that align with company's overall business goals in the US
  • Work with other internal company product line business development teams to internally support them and sell more
  • Support and or Lead the development of qualifications packages, presentations, company brochures, advertising, and E-blast marketing content
  • Prepare the annual business development plan & budget for the activities in the assigned area of responsibility
  • Strategically plan and forecast competitive information through research and development utilizing Customer Account and Database services, as well as standard research utilizing the internet or energy related portals
  • Participate in the Business Development, Marketing, and Sales Engineering/Estimating planning and tracking processes
  • Utilize existing CRM (SalesForce), Project Research Databases (Industrial Info Resources), and Existing Contact/Accounts to develop business opportunities that meet company's existing and future business goals
  • Takeover and or Develop "Key Account" solutions to develop programmatic offerings/relationships with past customers
  • Regularly meet with clients (35% of the time) to discuss key needs and project/services opportunities in their Pipeline to support the Sales Engineering and Estimating functions of the business

Requirements for the Business Development Manager

  • 10-20+ years of experience in the steam & power generation industry either working for an OEM, Services Company, Engineering or Construction company
  • You need at least 5 years of business development or sales engineering experience in the power generation industry
  • You need to be able to proficiently discuss both the technical & commercial aspects of steam and power generation engineering, equipment, construction, and commissioning
  • Must be sales and goal-oriented with a proven track record of successful proposal/development closures
  • Must possess excellent communication (verbal and written) skills with the ability to produce highly professional communications with clients that are both technical and commercial in nature
  • You need a BS degree in Engineering, but our client will consider other degrees if all requirements are met
  • You should expect domestic travel to client sites about 35% of the time
  • You need to be proficient with using MS Office and any experience with using SalesForce is preferred
  • Experience with Industrial Info Resources or a similar third party database system is required
