Project Architect

Permanent position: Our client, a well-established and growing architectural firm in Dayton, OH, is actively pursuing candidates to fill an opening on their team for a Project Lead Architect. The Project Lead Architect's basic function is to oversee, direct, and provide reviews and interpretations of proposed designs, to develop/prepare Construction Documents including building specifications in accordance with required project scope and/or company standard for all assigned projects. This role will provide leadership, planning, organization, direction, coordination, management, and control to meet project timelines and budgets on the projects assigned. Salary range for this position is $60k-$70k/yr., based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities for the Project Architect
  • Administering and monitoring project labor schedule for all assigned projects as prepared by the Manager.
  • Coordinating and scheduling project kick-off meetings for internal staff to review project scope and timeline .
  • Assigning tasks, coordinating and tracking internal staff on all assigned tasks.
  • Overseeing and monitoring project task schedule and budget hours in order to meet project deadlines for all assigned projects.
  • Attending meetings and coordinating activities of all engineers and consultants for each project assigned.
  • Formulating design alternatives, and responding to questions from internal staff, clients, contractors, building officials and other related to the assigned projects.
  • Assisting manager in assigning appropriate personnel to necessary tasks for each project; assigns tasks for each project to ensure an equitable distribution of work.
  • Overseeing and ensuring compliance with all guidelines for scope of work.
  • Ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations pertaining to project execution.
  • Identifying services required beyond the original contract scope and communicating requests for change orders to Manager.
  • Overseeing closeouts of projects with appropriate consultants and officials.
  • Implementing project checklists for each managed project to ensure production of high quality documents.
  • Responding in a timely manner to inquiries, utilizing good judgement in selecting the proper mode of communication and knowing when to cover topics by e-mail or phone.
  • Preparing and submitting daily time records (utilizing accounting software)
  • Preparing and submitting weekly updates on all assigned projects to Manager.
  • Reporting significant problems and trends to Manager.
  • Reviewing and recapping individual progress on goals and objectives on a quarterly basis.
Requirements for the Project Architect

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Architecture or related field.
  • Has five to seven years of previous architectural experience including leading junior staff.
  • Ability to use and teach AutoCAD/REVIT software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction and building codes required.
  • Proficiency with computer software/operating systems, to include Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, PM/Accounting Software, and Microsoft Windows 7 and higher.
  • Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate staff of one to three.
