Field Service Technician

Permanent position: Field Technician opportunity with a client located in the Charlotte, NC area for someone that has experience in the areas of electrical equipment testing, inspection, maintenance & repair on electrical power systems with voltage rating of 480 volts up to 500 KV. This is a nonexempt position with overtime typically available. Bonus and pay increase opportunity with each NETA certification level increase. Company car, laptop, and cell phone provided. Relocation assistance will be considered for eligible candidates

Responsibilities for the Field Service Technician

  • Electrical equipment testing, inspection, maintenance & repair applicable to electrical power systems with voltage rating of 480 volts up to 500 KV
  • Testing, and maintenance on relays, power transformers, low/medium voltage circuit breakers, switches, UPS, high voltage substation breakers, and other equipment typically associated with electrical power systems
  • Lead projects such as generator acceptance tests, commissioning of larger substations, supervising "turnkey" projects, detailed power surveys, etc.
  • Perform start-up services on switchgear up through the 500 kV class
  • Work with Electric Utilities and large process oriented industrial customers
Requirements for the Field Service Technician

  • BSEE/BSEET OR Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical equipment testing, inspection, maintenance & repair on electrical power systems with voltage rating of 480 volts up to 500 KV
  • Experience in all types of switchgear and equipment testing through the 500 kV class
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical apparatus testing with a strong theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation
  • Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients, peers and management
  • Current NETA level 2 or greater certification are a plus and will pay accordingly
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% and work weekends and some overtime as needed
