Telecommunications Engineer

Contract position: Outside Plant Telecommunications Engineers/ Telecommunications Designers (OSP Engineer) are needed for a leading utility construction organization in Columbus, OH. The OSP Engineers are responsible to support the design and engineering process for their telecommunication clientele utilizing AutoCAD and Aramis. Candidates must have 3+ years of OSP Engineering or Telecommunication Design experience. This is a long term contract opportunity with the potential to become permanent.

Responsibilities for the Telecommunications Engineer
  • Support the design and engineering process by planning and preparing drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing fiber optic and/or copper cables, and conduits
  • Identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, select routing of lines and equipment required for work projects
  • Provide on-site construction inspection to insure design specifications are met by the construction contractor
  • Create redlines, bore design, make-ready analysis, pole surveys, QC prints, butterfly drawings, preparation of prints and assist in preparing construction bid documentation
Requirements for the Telecommunications Engineer

  • Previous Outside Plant Engineer experience including knowledge of aerial, buried, underground and building entrance design
  • Proficiency with Aramis Drafting is desired, familiarity with AutoCAD is required
  • Candidates must understand infrastructure plans and survey information
  • A BS in engineering is highly desired but related experience will also be considered
