Site Manager

Permanent position: Site Manager opportunity with a chemical manufacturing client located North of the Detroit, MI area area. Managing approximately 8 direct and 160 indirect reports this position will have full responsibility for all aspects of this facility to include manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, budgets, P&L, etc. Relocation is available for eligible candidates. Great benefits and this position is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities for the Site Manager
  • Plan, lead, organize & control the delivery of the site's contribution to business objectives and overall performance
  • Establish, achieve, enforce and continuously improve the performance levels for the site in terms of customer service, safety, cost, quality, material efficiency, capital, engagement and resource productivity
  • Implement and operate the HSE platform and identify and respond effectively to hazards in HSE and security
  • Coach, mentor and develop the site management team members and build a team which is capable of and fully involved in achieving tasks and objectives
  • Utilizing a change management approach establish a culture of functional and operational excellence, continuous improvement and accountability, professionalism and commitment
  • Networks with other site managers / stakeholders to develop and share knowledge, experience, leverage best practice and exchange of/and building talents
  • Manage and plan relevant (departmental) budget and proactively manage the costs
  • Other duties as typical and assigned
Requirements for the Site Manager

  • Bachelor Degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering preferred
  • Proven site management experience in a medium to large chemical manufacturing / production or similar facility
  • Approximately 15 or more years experience in a coating or chemical production / manufacturing industry; small batch production environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing in a factory environment (coatings preferred)
  • Ability to effectively use a change management approach across all aspects of the business combined with a strong safety mindset
