Superintendent

Permanent position: Project Superintendent role immediately available with one of the largest full-service construction management firms in the St. Louis area. Responsible for coordinating all activities on the job site and ensuring the success of the project. The superintendent also is the liaison with the owner and must act in the best interest of the company at all times. Relocation assistance will be offered to the right candidate.

Responsibilities for the Superintendent
  • Responsible for supervision and coordination of all job site activities
  • Develop and maintain a complete understanding of the drawings, specifications and subcontractor scope
  • Hold pre-activity meetings with the appropriate contractors to review scope, schedule, quality, safety and environmental expectations
  • Work with the Project Manager in developing the project schedule and update the schedule monthly
  • Develop three week look-ahead schedules weekly and communicate these schedules to the subcontractors in the weekly meetings
  • Ensure that all contractor activities are coordinated to achieve timely completion of the project
  • Ensure compliance by all contractors to quality standards
  • Understand the budget and communicate regularly with the Project Manager
  • Coordinate the work of testing agencies
  • Assist the Project Manager in conducting the job progress meeting twice per month
  • Run foreman meetings
  • Assist the Project Manager in designing the Site Logistics Plan
  • Work with the Project Manager and Safety Director to develop a site specific safety plan
  • Perform safety audits and coordinate corrections immediately
  • Perform Formal Weekly Safety Audit and communicate deficiencies to appropriate contractor
  • Have all workers watch safety video before starting work on the project
  • Maintain storm water pollution prevention requirements on the project
  • Meet with each subcontractor foreman when they arrive on site to review expectations related to safety using the Subcontractor Foreman Orientation form as a guide
  • Complete new employee safety orientation for all new employees
  • Hold 'Tool Box Safety Meetings'' for direct hires
  • Follow protocols for injury/incident management and documentation
Requirements for the Superintendent

  • 5+ years of experience as an assistant superintendent/superintendent OR a BS Degree in construction/closely related field + 5 years of project engineering experience
  • Superior knowledge of construction drawings and specifications
  • Physically able to climb stairs at job sites, climb ladders up to 30 feet high, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
