Buyer

Permanent position: Buyer needed for a client that builds custom capital equipment. The position is located just outside of Indianapolis. Salary will be based on experience.

Responsibilities for the Buyer
  • Perform purchasing functions to ensure timely and effective management of allpurchased materials, supplies, equipment and services
  • Negotiate with vendors to obtain the best value for price, service, and delivery
  • Create and issue purchase orders to suppliers
  • Order OEM and MRO parts/supplies on a daily basis
  • Maintain raw material and part demands with blanket orders for demand driven release dates to maximize volume buying
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Engineering and Operations to identify and qualify new suppliers
  • Support Accounting and Receiving departments to minimize purchase orderdiscrepancies
Requirements for the Buyer

  • BS or AAS in Supply Chain Management or other business function preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing purchasing role
  • Excellent understanding of materials requirements planning (MRP) systems
  • Working knowledge of industrial equipment/machinery manufacturing
  • Ability to prioritize effectively with a sense of urgency
  • CPSM or APICS certifications preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
