Contract position: An Optical Technician for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science is needed in the Fairport, NY area. This position will design, model, analyze, and test optical and electro-optical systems and components, including sensors, lasers fiber-optics, and telecommunications products. No per diem is available. No travel is anticipated. Training will be 1st shift (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM), then will move to 2nd shift (12:00 PM - 8:30 PM) for the remainder of the assignment. Requirements for the Technician
- Conduct research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources.
- Develop component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for Electro-optical systems and components.
- Use design-to-cost models, six sigma methodology, and other methods to assure optical design requirements met.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in optics or another technical field is preferred.
