Controls Technician

Permanent position: Custom machinery manufacturer for the food and beverage industry near Abbotsford, WI is seeking a Controls Technician to add to their growing team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in assembly and installation of instrumentation and control systems for food, beverage or pharmaceutical industry. Experience with assembly, wiring and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs and motor controls required, as well as 30-50% travel.

Responsibilities for the Controls Technician
  • Assist in the commissioning and startup of instrumentation and control systems
  • Assemble control panels, motor panels and HMI panels
  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical software to review necessary drawings
  • Read and understand I/O lists
  • Communicate with senior technicians and supervisors to understand and clarify instrumentation and control technical support scope for projects
  • Overnight travel 30-50%
Requirements for the Controls Technician

  • 5+ years of experience with assembly, wiring, setup/calibration and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control components including PLC's, HMI's, Process instrumentation and motor controls
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to read and understand I/O lists and schematic drawings with minimal assistance
  • Previous experience with fluid processing plant equipment systems in food, beverage or pharmaceutical industries
