Engineering Manager

Our client in Houston TX is currently seeking an Engineering Manager. This is a mission critical role, requiring a background in process improvements, time studies and personnel management. The ideal candidate will be able to jump in quickly, make assessments and suggest improvements to leadership.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for a group of test, process engineers and technicians
  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of the engineering department for assigned locations, product groups, or customers
  • Conducts a continuous search of new processes, and procedures to enhance and improve company service lines
  • Responsible for supporting our continuous improvement philosophy throughout the organization; Track, analyze and adjust test/process activities in response to performance findings.
  • Provides quantitative actions to improve quality performance
  • Responsible for managing and prioritizing project schedules, planning, and execution
  • Develops engineering presentations for customers and internal reviews
  • Managing and maintaining new product introduction requirements
  • Responsible for projecting and maintaining capital budgets
  • Sets goals and objectives to drive cost efficiencies and quality
  • Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services
  • Participates in the interview process of new employees for assigned areas
  • Assigns, directs, and evaluates direct report's performance and oversees the development and maintenance of staff's competence.
  • Performs other duties such as Data Entry (Real time, Shop Floor, etc.), report management and working with cross-functional teams on accomplishing organizational objectives
Skills, Education and Training:

  • BS in engineering preferably in a technical field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience managing technical personnel
  • Minimum 7 years' experience managing technical issues preferably supporting repair activities
  • Expert knowledge of value stream mapping, time studies and continuous improvement
  • Advanced technical problem solving skills- Six Sigma process improvement experience preferred
  • Sound knowledge of engineering theories and design
  • Excellent component level trouble-shooting and diagnostics skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Experience managing deployment services resources paired with reverse logistics, project management and customer interface in a high tech environment
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
  • MS Office (advance Excel a must) Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and Project
  • Data analysis capability, MiniTab experience a plus
  • Technical writing ability a plus
  • Must be able to work without supervision
