Engineering Manager

Our client in Las Vegas is looking for an Engineering Manager who will provide engineering that is generated in a timely manner while resulting in economic production and erection.

responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides assistance to sales staff by:

    • Providing engineering drawings and calculations showing Company's unique in-house capabilities as part of proposals
    • Working with clients' engineering and architectural firms (often before contract award to Company) to assist in their planning for signage
    • Working with clients' contractors during construction to coordinate their requirements relative to signage attachments to the building
  • Keeping in mind that engineering for a manufacturing firm has unique skill set requirements not possessed by many engineers, manages the engineering staff by:

    • Distributing assignments according to work load, skills and personalities
    • Training staff in design and presentation procedures
    • Reviewing staffs' work prior to submission for permitting or to the client
  • Works with the shop and installers throughout the design, fabrication and erection processes
  • Represents Company on national and regional associations:
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides information regarding previous projects, as requested
  • Provides advice to service regarding structural issues found in the field
  • Attends corporate management training, etc.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or assigned
NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

  • Oversees five employees
  • Strives to help employees maximize their skills and minimizes their weaknesses. Manages employees from a positive perspective
  • Has daily interaction with outside clients and associates
 
qualifications:
A degree in a subject such as Structural Engineering and at least fifteen years of applicable experience or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Well-developed and highly effective listening, oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to maintain professional demeanor while dealing with very difficult and complex clients and situations
  • The ability to providing engineering drawings and calculations showing Company's unique in-house capabilities as part of proposals and to work with clients' engineering and architectural firms and contractors during construction to coordinate their requirements relative to signage attachments to the building
  • To works with the shop and installers throughout the design, fabrication and erection processes
  • To use persuasive and sales skills while dealing with clients and outside firms
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD, RISA 3D
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Workbench (project planning software)
  • A foreign A/B license is preferred (to enable Company to seek any construction project)
