Hardware Engineering Manager

Industry leader in network visibility and security solutions is looking to add an experienced Hardware Engineering Manager to their team in Wilsonville, Oregon. The Hardware Engineering Manager will be responsible for building and leading hardware engineers who are designing next generation network and security products. This will involve working closely with project team members to ensure the design strategy and plans are successfully executed within schedule and budget. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years experience in hardware development, with 2+ years in a management position with experience in communications related product design and high speed digital designs or ethernet.

responsibilities:
  • Leads the Hardware Team to scope deliverables and manage resources
  • Partners with Management to define and manage state-of-the-art technologies
  • Takes ownership of next generation and existing hardware system designs
  • Creates, maintains, and promotes documentation of processes
  • Ensures product release schedules are on-time by actively managing and driving project teams to hit milestones
  • Ensures teams are considering the use of leading-edge technology and keeping pace with revolutionary and innovative trends
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with cross functional teams
  • Collaborates with key partners (software, manufacturing, marketing, sales, etc.) to support project development and completion
  • Participates in design reviews and design decisions
  • Provides guidance and direction to direct reports, including setting performance goals and monitoring performance
  • Responsible for employee hiring, training, and career development planning
Qualifications and Requirements

  • 7+ years Hardware Design experience
  • 2+ years Management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and setting design strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex product development cycles
  • Proven track record building and managing hardware engineering teams
Preferred Experience

  • Use of CAD design tools for schematic entry and library creation (Cadence OrCAD Preferred)
  • Use of PCB layout tools (Cadence OrCAD and Allegro preferred)
  • Experience with communications products (Ethernet switching preferred)
  • Experience in 1G/10G/25G/100G Ethernet or other high-speed digital designs
  • Experience with verification and validation of hardware designs
  • Understanding of software development needs and timelines
  • Understanding of manufacturing requirements and process
  • Library management systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
