Manufacturing Engineer

job summary:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of specific work experience as a Design / Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • CAD/CAM experience
  • Electrical experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments using critical thinking skills
  • Develop manufacturing process designs and coordinate tooling and equipment sources for construction & validation
  • Hands on technical knowledge of welding, metal forming, product design and is a plus. (Note: Training on company's products will be provided)
  • Evaluate and design, using techniques such as engineering (stress) analysis
  • Must be able to apply much of the above independently, without daily guidance
  • Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources when needed
  • Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology including metal cutting and fixture design and product design
  • Comfortable in a small multifunctional office environment
  • Excellent communication proficiency: oral, written, presentation and interpersonal - ability to clearly explain complex issues
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring that the department meets safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets
  • Hands on problem solver - Uses engineering problem solving skills to troubleshoot quality and production problems to root cause with limited supervision
  • Maintains and develops necessary process documentation and specifications to continually improve the process
  • Provides "hands on" support to the operations team
  • Implements solutions to prevent re-occurrence of production and quality problems
  • Assists with qualification and non-conformance process of new and existing vendors as required
  • Identifies, defines, and measures improvement opportunities by analyzing production and field data
  • Supports the identifying and executing of cost saving projects
  • Communicates effectively with all team members in the plant (operators, technicians, managers, etc.)
  • Complies with all company safety rules and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
