Human Resources Generalist

A growing construction company located in Wallingford, CT is looking for an HR Generalist to join their team! Responsibilities:
Employee Relations and Performance
Counsel and coach employees and managers regarding Human Resource issues, practices and policies including employee relations, performance management, facilitation of formal/informal complaints to resolution, disciplinary action and terminations
Coach managers on process of evaluating employees, setting goals, conducting objective performance reviews and recognizing and awarding performance to improve productivity
Assist with policy writing, forms creation and exit interviews
Communicate corporate policies and evaluate company practices to ensure compliance with state and federal laws
Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, benchmarking and applicable laws regarding human resources
Partner with management to provide guidance in preparing and tracking all performance reviews including initiating 90 day reviews
Track performance goals and objectives and ensure that targets are being met
Review and the updating of job descriptions
Assist with job analysis and classification of all positions
Update and assist with handbook changes and roll out
Research, compile and analyze data for special projects and reports

Working hours: 8 AM - 1 PM

Skills:
Benefits and Leaves
--Assist with processing Family Medical Leave paperwork and tracking
--Manage and track employee leaves including FML, personal, military, Short term and long term disability
--Workers Compensation contact for employees which includes submitting claims, following up with active claims and filing claims once closed out
Recruiting
--Manage and participate in all aspects of recruitment (sourcing, interviewing, career fairs, job fairs, tech talks, community outreach, diversity initiatives, etc.)
--Draft and post all employment opportunities
--Track applicants for reporting
--Pre Screen candidates, create interview guides and schedule interviews
--Work with HR Administrator on on-boarding and maintenance of employee files and documents

Experience in employee relations a must
Experience in benefit administration including administration of Family Medical Leave and other federal/state laws and/or regulations
Recruiting experience for entry level positions; construction industry experience preferred
Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills & the ability to effectively disseminate information.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees
Ability to effectively problem-solve
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Keen attention to detail and accuracy; with strong skills in records management
Exceptional organization skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
Ability to work independently and strong attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Willing and able to travel to job sites, career fairs and industry related events/seminars
A Bachelors Degree preferred or proven experience in Human Resources
A valid drivers license
