Payroll Clerk

This position performs the full range of weekly payroll processing. This includes maintaining employee files and employee data on the accounting system, inputting weekly timecards in the payroll system, processing the weekly payroll on the accounting system, and printing and distrusting the weekly payroll checks. Works closely with the project teams to resolve timecard reporting issues and other issues related to payroll.

Responsibilities:
Maintain employee files on the accounting system, input new hires and re-hires, prepare and maintain timecard and employee files.
Generate weekly paychecks, including gathering, sorting and inputting timecards, checking edit lists and exception reports for errors, printing checks, running reports, distributing checks.
Prepare positive pay and direct deposit information and transmit the reports to the bank.
Resolve timecard problems and keep track of who is where for check distribution.
Process garnishments and the related weekly invoices.
Communicate daily with job sites and staff regarding payroll issues; answer questions from outside regarding employment verification, W-4???s and stop payments. Complete claimant separation statements.
Prepare and transmit weekly taxes withheld to the State of Oregon and IRS.
Prepare Quarterly and Annual Reports.
Assist in annual W2 and 1099 reporting and record retention activities.
Archive payroll documentation as required.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
Possess quick and accurate data entry skills.
Self-starter with initiative and willingness to learn.
Must possess good organization and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented and enjoys a teamwork environment.

Qualifications:
Two or more years of Payroll experience is required, preferably in the construction industry.
Experience in Job Costing in a construction environment desired.
Experience in General Ledger entries and reconciliation desired.
Possess good computer skills and be trainable in any software package. Experience in Spectrum accounting software is preferred, but not required.
Experience and knowledge of Windows software, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
