Administrative Assistant Advanced Level
The Community Service Specialist II assesses clients' strengths and limitations, as well as potential risk factors, and assists in advocating for a wide variety of social services to address household needs. The Community Service Specialist II utilizes various therapeutic techniques to assist clients in exploring every available options, feelings, attitudes, and anxieties which inhibit resolution of their housing problem as well as barriers to stability.- Work is performed under the general supervision of a Community Services Coordinator II in the Office of Community Services.
Examples of Duties:??
1.-Provides technical assistance and training to community based organizations and agencies and assists them with the implementation of best practices; including but not limited to HMIS data entry, and data clean up;
2.-Maintains a variety of records as required by the Housing Crisis Response System and HMIS;
3.-Compiles and analyzes data for the CoC;
4.-Conducts eligibility screenings and comprehensive needs assessments for households seeking to access homeless services;
5.-Assesses safety risks to clients in accordance with state and local policies and makes referrals to Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, Mental Health or Substance Abuse Services or law enforcement when warranted;
6.-Provides crisis intervention and specialized casework individuals and families experiencing chronic homelessness, and mental health or substance abuse issues.
7.-Identifies safety issues and develops safety plans;
8.-Acts as the first point of contact for clients experiencing an emergency need, i.e housing and provides supportive services and resources, such as shelter, food, clothing and critical medications, to alleviate immediate needs;
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Good knowledge of the counseling and service needs of low-income, multicultural or multilingual families; good knowledge of community agencies, prevention and diversion programs and services available to City residents; skill in a language other than English may be required; skill in mitigating conflicts; ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing with individuals and diverse cultural groups; ability to counsel assigned clients under normal circumstances and in crisis intervention situations; ability to plan, organize, and implement topical workshops, forums, seminars, and other programs and presentations.
