Our Client is looking for a motivated Intermediate-Level Mechanical Engineer in our Field Systems Engineering team. The farm of the future demands seeds, traits, and crop protection products that enable farmers to produce a lot more food with fewer inputs while safeguarding the environment. They design the machines that will plant, harvest, and manage thousands of research fields while measuring the details of every plant and its environment, helping our scientists create ever better products.

Mechanical Engineers are responsible for all aspects of the development from concept through detailed design, fabrication, testing, installation and support of a wide variety of automated analytical research and production equipment. The equipment may range from handheld tools, to bench top opto-electronic devices, to large-scale, high-throughput automated research equipment, to state-of-the-art agricultural equipment. Design work in our platform teams can include gathering requirements and learning from field users, building and evaluating prototypes, implementing test plans for both current systems and new designs, delivering production ready prints, and more. Our team is mostly based out of our brand-new facility in Chesterfield, MO.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Design of mechanisms and components
--Selection of mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, and hydraulic components
--Utilize best engineering practices
--Creation of component fabrication and assembly documentation
--Collaborate with component fabricators to improve component manufacturability
--Validate concept and designs through solid modeling analysis and prototype development and testing
--Assist with creation of end-user documentation and training of end-users
--Support mechanical assembly activities by directing assembly technicians
--Assist with equipment checkout and participate in project deployment
--B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
--High degree of mechanical aptitude, and a hands on approach to engineering
--Previous experience with 3D modeling software; SolidWorks preferred
--Experience with FEA
--Knowledge of the agriculture industry and experience operating farming equipment
--Experience with rapid prototyping techniques, including understanding of trade offs and limitations for practicality and manufacturability ed.
