Develops, writes, formats, and edits material used in the preparation of semi-complex procedures, work instructions, manuals, reports, proposals, and related technical and administrative publications, which involves collecting and organizing information on the sequential process steps involved in executing supply chain and supplier quality processes. Updates and edits existing technical publications based on changes in processes or government and/or customer requirements. Manages work assignments given to independent writers on a contract basis. Ensures compliance with established operating procedures and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Collects detailed information describing the process flow or sequence of operational steps required to complete a task.
Observes supply chain and supplier quality activities.
Studies parts lists, government regulations, standard operating procedures and other pertinent material.
Interviews supply chain / supplier quality personnel to discuss and describes sequential processing or operational steps.
Organizes all material and composes text using a computer program that describes, in concise and clear language, the sequential steps to be performed to execute a process or procedure.
Follows established format guidelines for technical publications.
Communicates with clients during the development of technical manuals to discuss their special needs and requirements.
Selects photographs, drawings, and diagrams to illustrate text material.
Assists in laying out all material for publication.
Proofreads all work completed to ensure that it is error free in terms of grammar, spelling, and formatting.
Arranges for and coordinates the production, distribution and training of technical publications completed.
Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
Maintains records and files of work and revisions in company folders and intranet.
Performs other duties as instructed.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 5:00 AM
The position is located in Huntington NY covering leave of absence. The hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm Mon-Thurs and 8am to 12pm Fri
EDUCATION: B.S. Degree or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE: 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
