Employee Benefits Manager
We have a fantastic opportunity tor YOU to become the next Employee Benefits Manager for an international company dedicated to innovative and sustainable development of the highest quality vegetable seeds. They are a leader in the vegetable seed business and #2 worldwide. They are a culturally diverse and collaborative team, working in over 30 countries, and serving growers on every continent.
They are located in Davis, CA. This is a temporary position that would last around 7-9 months and pays between $25.00 - $30.00/hour.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Manage the administration and government compliance responsibilities of the Employee Benefits function for the USA with possible extension of responsibilities to the AMPA Region. Report to and support the Sr. Director, Compensation/ Benefits/ HRIS- AMPA Region.
POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Manage the following administration and government compliance responsibilities as assigned:
(a) Directly administer time-off and leave of absence administration policies and programs;
(b) Directly administer 401(k) and pension plan retirement plans;
(c) Supervise the administration through staff of health and welfare benefit programs.
?? Supports management's decision making by analyzing benefit options and predicting future costs.
?? Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; obtaining qualified opinions; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
?? Informs employees of benefit usage by preparing and distributing benefit reports.
?? Maintains benefit records by developing recordkeeping systems; initiating new-hire benefits; recording changes.
?? Expedites delivery of benefits by establishing and maintaining working relationships with benefit providers.
?? Reconciles benefits accounts by reviewing and approving billing statements.
?? Maintains benefits staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Plans, monitors, and appraises job results of staff.
?? Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
?? Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
PRIMARY DUTY: Time-Off and Leave of Absence Benefits
?? Develop and document all time-off and leave of absence benefit procedures. Suggest reengineering of processes when appropriate.
?? Identify legal requirements and ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
?? Supervise the FMLA/STD/LTD processes, identifying eligibility and interpreting FMLA law and company policy.
?? Serve as a consulting resource for both employees and management on these matters.
PRIMARY DUTY: Retirement Plan Benefits- Pension and 401k
?? Counsel employees on pension and 401k plan administrative processes, plan design and options.
?? Collect data and coordinate calculation of individual pension calculations and the annual actuarial valuation with the external actuary and pension plan administrator.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
--Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
--Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Excel skills; intermediate Microsoft Access skills.
--Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and present formal documents, reports, presentations and recommendations to rank & file and management level employees.
--Proficiency with report writers preferred.
?? Bachelor's degree with emphasis in any one or more of the following:
human resources, information systems, accounting, economics and/ or finance.
?? Employee Benefits certifications from CEBS or World at Work would be preferred
