Patient Account Representative
A large healthcare facility needs an experienced Patient Registration who will be responsible for greeting patients, activating patient files, and moving patients through the process. We're looking for a professional who believes that patients should be treated as people rather than numbers in a file, and who understands the value of compassionate service. The job includes significant amounts of multi-tasking, but the ideal candidate will know when to slow down, look patients in the eye and provide personalized service.
The company is one that fosters an open door policy with all levels of management all the way up the chain of command. In addition to offering great leadership, they also host monthly/quarterly employee luncheons and celebrate employee birthdays each month!
This position reports to the Office Manager who is very laid back in his management approach. He cares about his employees and it is reflective in the open door policy he has. He challenges his employees on a daily basis for the purpose of expanding their skills through effectively asking questions.
--Responsible for greeting incoming patients in a friendly and professional manner.
--Complete and accurate information should be obtained from the patient for billing and demographics purposes.
-- All incoming calls should be answered in a friendly and professional manner.
--Complete administrative duties that ensure the patient??s visit is smooth, billing can be processed timely and accurately, and front office remains clutter free and organized.
--Collect co-pays at the time of visit and in accordance with patient insurance guidelines.
--Create patient charts for a first time visitor or locate charts if it is a return visit.
--Deliver medical notes to patient primary care physician
--Use appropriate systems to: o Document and track patients o Confirm patient billing information o Insurance verification o Verify Medicaid insurance eligibility o Process credit card payments.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
--Provide customer service in accordance to clinic mission
--Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements The ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks is required
--Must be professional, flexible, caring, and compassionate and exhibit a congenial and sensitive attitude toward patients
--Associate Degree in Medical Billing or related field required (Bachelor??s degree preferred)
--3+ years?? experience in medical billing and working with insurance companies
--2+ years?? patient care experience
--Ability to use billing systems such as EMR and Claim Scrubbers
--Excellent time management skills
--Strong attention to detail required
