Aviation company in Peachtree City is hiring! The Shipping/Receiving Clerk performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods of the company and receiving incoming shipments.
Shipping duties typically involve verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents. Insuring that shipment are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles, and preparing and keeping records of goods shipped. Receiving duties typically involve verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, receipts or other records, checking for damaged goods, insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the company, and preparing and keeping records of goods received.
General knowledge of warehouse/stockroom procedures are crucial and must be detailed oriented with good mathematical abilities. Maintain receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating and coordinating. Responsible for pulling, packing, staging and processing orders. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Determine method of shipment. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Binds containers with strapping tape or palletizes products for shipment. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage. Responsible for receiving, unpacking, verifying and stocking material. Route items to departments. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Responsible for maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse. Maintains existing inventory on shelves by; rotating items by serial numbers, helps in cycle and end of year inventory accounts, keeps inventory items in designated areas and organized accordingly. Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. Apply common sense in carrying out detailed but non-technical written or oral instructions. Key in data, type, and operate a computer keyboard.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) in addition to 1-2 years experience in shipping/receiving. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Speak clearly and precisely. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Excellent problem solving skills. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient personal computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word & Microsoft Outlook (email). Strong attention to detail is crucial.
