The Senior Planner/Buyer is responsible for Demand Planning, Supply Planning and Inventory Management of key product line(s). This role will own the end-to-end supply chain for key product line(s) by partnering with Commercial to understand market needs, liaise with direct material suppliers to plan and purchase raw materials, and works with Manufacturing to create and execute the Master Production Schedule for specific product line(s).
Partners with the Commercial organization to understand upcoming market needs and proactively communicates challenges impacting inventory availability.
Creates, maintains and controls the Master Production Schedule (MPS) in accordance to the Commercial forecasts and desired inventory stocking levels. Monitors and evaluates results of manufacturing process and execution of schedule against MPS. Analyzes the need for MPS changes and takes appropriate action based on short and long term impact.
Responsible for creating the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for clinical volumes in accordance to study requirements and facilitates steps to ensure timely delivery, testing and release of clinical batches.
The Planner/Buyer III will prepare and participate in the Sales & Operations Planning review. S/he will collaborate with Commercial, Finance and Manufacturing to understand the long-range demand and capacity plan, proactively identify, communicate and mitigate gaps, and execute potential opportunities.
Procures direct materials to ensure on-time delivery of goods consistent with production planning requirements. Executes release to suppliers and confirms or reschedules delivery dates as required. Manages material receipts through quality release process so sufficient inventory is available. Responsible for all purchasing/planning data in ERP system for designated commodities.
Primary liaison for day to day contact with Suppliers of designated materials. Meets with key suppliers, and document performance in accordance with internal operating procedures. Drives continuous improvement with suppliers utilizing systems and tools to monitor and report supplier performance and corrective action.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Process Change Controls, Deviations and CAPAs as required. Participate in the development purchasing specifications by analyzing technical data, product requirements and collaborating cross functionally with relevant SME's.
Develops target inventory levels and executes initiatives to support company's Inventory Plan and Contract Manufacturers requirements while maintaining continued supply, minimize expiry risk, and support safety stock requirements. Must be able to manage product expiry and re-test requirements.
Participates in cycle-counting program, including investigation/resolution of discrepancies. Makes adjustments to component levels within MRP system, and follows-up with Finance.
Participates in the Budget process by developing long-range inventory projections, production estimates and headcount analysis.
Prepares moderately complex reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data from various sources. Able to analyze large amounts of data, extrapolate insights and present findings and recommendations to management.
The Planner/Buyer III will foster a high performing organization by creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions. S/he will engage in knowledge sharing and train new hires when needed.
The individual will be an active user of the LX system. S/he will contribute to identifying system gaps and working with IT partners to implement solutions.
Maintain current knowledge of, and ensure all work activities are conducted in compliance with the full range of related internal and external systems, technologies, regulatory requirements and related policies and procedures. Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
Actively promote safety rules and awareness. Demonstrate good safety practices at all times including the appropriate use of protective equipment. Report and takes initiative to correct safety & environmental hazards.
Bachelor???s Degree in supply chain or operations and 6-9 years of related experience.
Previous experience managing chemicals or materials with expiration dates in FDA/GMP regulated Pharmaceutical or related industry required.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; demonstrated ability to produce reports for analysis and coordinate/conduct meetings.
High degree of organization with ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
Demonstrated ability to successfully problem-solve while dealing with ambiguity.
Ability to work without direct supervision and set own work direction within the context of the position.
Proven ability to effectively interact, influence and drive results cross-functionally (Commercial, Manufacturing, Finance, IT).
Proven experience driving continuous process improvement and cost savings required.
Experience procuring using ERP/MRP in a manufacturing environment; experience with AS-400 platform preferred.
ERP implementation experience a plus.
